Paris Saint Germain and Inter Milan seize the moment

Wednesday night, 13 May was a night of confetti in Europe for the 2025/26 season as the festivities commenced for Italian heavyweights Inter Milan after they clinched the Coppa Italia and reign of French terror as Paris Saint Germain put their hands on their fifth consecutive league title victory.

PSG win

PSG’s win over RC Lens wrapped up their fifth consecutive title win, stamping their dominance in the French league. The league victory was claimed with a one game remaining as Les Parisien coach Luis Enrique affirmed that heading into the game the league was 99.9% secured. Offensive protagonist Kvicha Kravaskhelia and Ibrahim Mbaye were on the scoresheet at St Bollaert-Delelis and Luis Enrique now has a 100% league record as this victory is his 3rd league title in a row.

The Spanish manager who will be looking to marshal his side to a second consecutive Champions League title against Arsenal on 30 May in Budapest commended Lens as having done a “very good job” as they await Nice in the Coupe de France final on 22 May.

Adam Marusic’s own goal and a goal from Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez confirmed Inter Milan’s triumph over Lazio in front of their supporters at the Stadio Olimpico. The win secured the double for the Nerazurri after they clinched the Serie A title with 3 remaining games. It’s safe to proclaim that the victory cements a first successful season for manager Christian Chivu who was appointed after resucing Parma from relegation last season.

Inter Milan’s success

Inter Milan’s successful reign stakes their claim in dominating Italian football because it is the first time since the heroics of Mourinho’s 2010 team that they secured the league and a cup in the same season.
Inter Milan will be looking to fine tune their prospects of attaining more silverware next season and potentially set their eyes on continental ambitions considering that the champions league has been eluding them in the past seasons with losses to Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City in the not-so-distant past.
