Mlindo responds to abuse allegations: “I have also endured pain”
South African musician Mlindo The Vocalist, whose real name is Lindokuhle Mgedezi, has publicly denied claims of physical abuse made by his former partner, Taylor-Jo Allison, calling the accusations “hurtful” and part of a “false narrative” aimed at destroying his reputation.
The allegations
The AmaBlesser hitmaker maker’s statement follows a series of Instagram stories from Allison, which have since been removed, in which she alleged that Mgedezi had physically attacked her.
“Mlindo the Vocalist is a fraud. He beat me up,” she reportedly wrote.
Singer Says He Also Suffered in the Relationship
In a media statement released on Friday, Mlindo admitted the relationship had its difficulties but insisted he was not the only one at fault.
“I have stayed quiet for a long time out of respect for the relationship and hoping we could sort things out privately. But now my silence is being misunderstood. I need to say that I also went through emotional and physical pain and other struggles in the relationship that I chose not to make public.”
The musician added that he intends to handle the situation “with dignity and respect” and requested that the public give him and his family privacy.
What Allison Alleged on Social Media
Before deleting her posts, Allison shared several serious accusations against Mlindo, which quickly went viral. According to reports, her claims included:
Cheating and health concerns: Allison alleged that the singer had multiple affairs and that she contracted infections from him on several occasions. When she confronted him, she claims he blamed poor bathroom hygiene instead of taking responsibility.
Neglecting their child financially: Allison said Mlindo had “never been financially responsible” for their daughter, Nkanyezi, born in May 2024, even though he supports his other children, his mother, and her children.
Graphic personal behaviour: In some of her most shocking claims, Allison described the singer as “a fraud and a drunk who shits and urinates himself when he drinks too much,” adding that she had to clean up after him “with my bare hands.”
A Rocky Relationship History
The couple’s relationship has been unstable for months. In February, Allison reportedly moved out of their Midrand apartment while Mlindo was away for work, taking their child and loading furniture into a truck.
A neighbour described the scene at the time: “She looked like she had enough. She packed everything into boxes and a suitcase and left.” Allison briefly confirmed the split before asking for privacy.
Money problems also seemed to be a recurring issue. In a Christmas post in December, when a follower suggested the couple must be wealthy, Allison replied: “I wish.” In another comment, she said: “It didn’t even say Hi this side.”
Mixed Reactions Online
The controversy has split public opinion, with some standing by Allison for speaking out and others urging caution until both sides have been heard.
Mlindo, best known for his 2018 platinum hit Amablesser, has not made further comments. His statement concludes: “I trust that the truth will come to light in due course.”
Controversy in statements
Following the removal of her earlier stories, Taylor Allison issued a public apology and shared a Instagram subsequent post.
In the public statement Allison apologizes for her emotional social media posts, admitting that she spoke from a place of “deep hurt, frustration, and emotional exhaustion” during a difficult personal time. She acknowledged that bringing private matters to a public platform was not the best approach.
She states that some of her wording and details “do not reflect the full reality of the situation” and were made out of hurt and frustration, not with the intention of humiliating or degrading anyone publicly.
She asks that the situation not become a source of mockery, bullying, or damage to anyone’s dignity or career. Finally, she calls for privacy and a focus on healing, peaceful co-parenting, and moving forward respectfully.
“Regardless of our personal challenges, Lindo remains a loving father and someone I once cared for deeply.”
Her later Instagram post contrasts her dedication to their daughter with what she implies is Mlindo’s prioritisation of his career.
I’ll do anything for my daughter
And you’ll do anything for your career
We are not the same
