Early in the month of May, many people were unsettled as a deadly virus was detected on a cruise ship sailing on the Atlantic Ocean. This virus was a attack to the respiratory system and was passed on from mice to people. People got contaminated on the ship by breathing in air infected with mouse feces. Those who got contaminated died and had others in a critical state.
SA and the virus
Digging deep into this virus and its effects, expects saw the near death of the world. People in the city of Johannesburg were scared for their lives as the patients who were on the ship, with a critical condition were taken to Sandton. Many expected a lockdown similar to the one during Covid-19 and a quarantine. People all around the world were scared for their lives.
Where did it go?
Social media came to a storm with citizens asking for updates from officials regarding safety measures on the newly deadly virus making rounds. The silence thereof around this was a bt too loud for people and updates were sought on social media.
The suspense grew and lead to complete silence. The last updates were about the recovery of the patients in hospital.
Days turned into weeks following these intense moments, the government, health expects and the world health organisation did not provide any update on the virus. People were left with unanswered questions. The virus was treated like a trend that went unpopular after some time.
Social media only had memes as a trace back to the virus. Many still have a question on whether the virus was an exaggeration or was it well maintained and didn’t need the world uneasy. Did the virus even exist or was it a distraction to something big? Till more updates come, this will just remain an unsolved mystery.
